Joe Biden, 81, mixed up his words again, and Republicans are using it as ammunition to further their claim that he’s unfit – both physically and mentally – to lead the White House for another four years. It’s the same cycle that has continued for the past five years, but here’s the latest!

Biden Accepts Endorsement From Kennedy Family

On Thursday (April 18), President Joe Biden received the formal endorsement of more than 12 members of the Kennedy family. The family held an event in Philadelphia, where some of the family members – including Kerry Kennedy – spoke.

“We want to make crystal clear our feelings that the best way forward for America is to reelect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for four more years,” Kerry, the daughter of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, said during the rally.

Choosing Biden Over Their Own Family Member

The Kennedy endorsement might come as a surprise to some because it comes during an election year that will see Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the son of the former AG and the brother of Kerry, on the ballot. Unfortunately, he won’t be getting much support from his family.

To those who have followed the Kennedy family over the past few decades, their endorsement of Biden isn’t that shocking. The family has opposed RFK Jr.’s views for quite some time and has long campaigned to maintain their ties to the Democratic party.

Kerry Kennedy Calls Biden A ‘Champion’ Democrat

Kerry was the one who gave Biden his introduction – which he described as ‘the most meaningful introduction I’ve ever gotten in my life.’ She didn’t talk much about her brother, but she did say there were only two candidates with a shot at winning – Biden and Trump.

“President Biden has been a champion for all the rights and freedoms that my father and uncles stood for,” she said. “Donald Trump is running to take us backwards, attacking the most basic rights and freedoms that are core to who we are as Americans.”

Biden Ends Speech With Puzzling Gaffe

When it came time for Biden to speak, he thanked the Kennedy family for their support and discussed how RFK and JFK inspired him in his own political career. Towards the end of his speech, he said something that had everyone befuddled:

“Are you ready to choose unity over division? Dignity over demolition? Truth over lies? Are you ready to choose freedom over democracy? Because that’s America,” he said. Everyone was on board with what he said until he asked if they were ready to ‘choose freedom over democracy.’

Republicans And Biden Critics Lose Their Minds

Now, obviously, that’s not what the President meant to say. Unfortunately, that’s not going to stop Republicans from using it as ammunition in their fight to get Trump re-elected. It’s ironic because ‘choosing freedom over democracy’ is what Republicans stand for.

It didn’t take long for the jokes to roll in. “Dems really need to upgrade his [operating system] or something…” one journalist wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “He’s fine. Everything’s fine. Biden is definitely not in severe mental decline,” said another X user.

The Conservative Brief Questions Biden’s Ability

The Conservative Brief, a political news outlet, compared Biden’s cognitive decline to those of past presidents. They argued that Biden’s is far worse than Ronald Reagan’s cognitive decline or Dan Quayle spelling the word ‘potato’ wrong.

“It was nothing like this. When George W. Bush was in the Oval Office, and people said Dick Cheney was running the country because he couldn’t, it was nothing like this,” the outlet wrote on X – urging Americans to ask themselves if this is the man they want in the Oval Office.

5 Of Biden’s Most Shocking Gaffes Over The Years

Since becoming President in 2021, Biden has made a number of mental and physical gaffes. Whenever it happens, a video of the gaffe goes viral on social media, and the Republicans use it to promote Trump as the more worthy candidate.

While his latest gaffe will certainly go down as one of the more ironic ones, it might not rank as one of the funniest – not because it wasn’t funny, but because some of his other ones were just that good. Here are five of his most popular gaffes in recent years:

5. Billion 300 Million Trillion 300 Million Dollars

In 2023, Biden was in Las Vegas to unveil $8.2 billion in new federal funding for 10 major passenger rail projects across the country. During his speech, he ended up botching that number – saying it cost ‘over a billion 300 million trillion 300 million dollars.’

He said something similar two years earlier when discussing taxes. “For example, there’s a situation where there’s an estimation of somewhere between 700 billion and a trillion 300 million billion dollars,” he said in an interview.

4. Tripping While Walking Up Airplane

There have been several instances where Biden has either fallen, tripped, or stumbled while walking up stairs or across a stage. One of those instances happened earlier this year when Biden was boarding Air Force One.

Even though he was using short stairs to avoid tripping – and even though he was walking up (not down) the stairs – Biden still managed to stumble, gripping the handrail as he struggled to maintain balance.

3. More Than 100 People Died Of COVID

In July 2023, Biden addressed the nation after three horrific years of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, more than one million people had died as a result of the illness, but that’s not the number Biden gave in his speech.

“We’re still feeling the profound loss of the pandemic.  As I mentioned, we have over 100 people dead,” Biden said at the White House. “That’s 100 empty chairs around the kitchen table. Every single loss, there are so many people left behind and broken-hearted.”

2. Confuses Taylor Swift With Britney Spears

Ahead of Thanksgiving 2023, Biden pardoned two turkeys named Liberty and Bell. In the midst of pardoning the turkey, he joked about the challenges the turkeys had to overcome just to get here. Unfortunately, he mixed up two very different pop stars.

“You could say it’s even harder than getting a ticket to the Renaissance tour or, or Britney’s tour. She’s down, it’s kind of warm in Brazil right now,” Biden said. The only problem was Britney wasn’t on tour at that time – Taylor Swift was.

1. Cured Cancer As We Know It

In July 2023, Biden was announcing new measures by his administration to improve access to mental health treatment when he appeared to say he had cured cancer. “I said I’d cure cancer they looked at me like, why cancer? Because we can. We ended cancer as we know it,” he said.

It was later clarified that he meant to say: “’If you could do anything at all, Joe, what would you do?’ I said, ‘I’d cure cancer.’ And they looked at me like, ‘Why cancer?’ Because no one thinks we can. That’s why. And we can. We can end cancer as we know it.”
