Judge Aileen Cannon reportedly ordered for the classified documents evidence related to the case against Donald Trump to be made public. After extensive arguments over the matter, new reports have shown that the order will be fulfilled and that evidence will be released to the public.
Grand Jury Testimony Of Valet Walt Nauta To Be Released
The evidence that will be made public will include the grand jury testimony of Walt Nauta, the valet of the former U.S. President. Multiple reports confirm that both Nauta and Trump were in support of the testimony being released to the public.
Nauta was accused of transporting boxes from the White House at the direction of Donald Trump. Further allegations claim that he lied about that activity to investigators.
Nauta Reportedly Played Integral Role In Allegedly Hoarding Classified Documents
Multiple reports claim that Walt Nauta played an integral role in the alleged scheme involving Donald Trump. Trump was charged with 37 separate counts for the illegal hoarding of classified documents in addition to obstructing efforts from the government to retrieve the documents.
The government claims that Walt Nauta helped to pack Donald Trump’s boxes before he left the Oval Office after his presidential term. According to the claims, Nauta also moved the documents to various rooms within Mar-a-Lago at the direction of the former Commander-in-Chief.
Nauta Allegedly Shared Photographs Of Contents Of Fallen Boxes
The indictment further alleged that Nauta captured and shared photographs of the classified documents after their boxes fell over in the storage room. These photographs reportedly included a document that was visibly marked with a warning.
The warning stated that the documents were restricted exclusively to the Five Eyes intelligence alliance. This alliance included New Zealand, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
FBI Interrogated Nauta About Box Movement Before Serving Search Warrant
FBI agents reportedly interrogated Walt Nauta about the movement of the boxes in question before they served a search warrant at the Mar-a-Lago property. Multiple reports confirm that the interrogation took place several weeks before the warrant was served.
As was the case with other witnesses that were close associates of Donald Trump, Nauta’s responses to the law enforcement agents placed him in a state of legal jeopardy.
FBI Raid Of Mar-A-Lago Revealed 11,000 Additional Presidential Records
The FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence on August 8, 2022. It was not until that raid that the FBI was able to uncover 11,000 additional presidential records stored away that were not declared by the former president.
A prosecution document filed the following month indicated that the FBI raid uncovered approximately 11,179 government documents that “were without classification markings.” This was in addition to 31 that were marked as confidential, 54 secret documents, and 18 top secret documents.
Cannon Wrote That Nauta Filed ‘Unredacted Version’ Of Transcript
Judge Cannon ordered on April 28 that Nauta should “publicly file the transcript of his grand jury testimony taken on June 21, 2022.” She added that the transcript should have “limited redactions.”
Nauta reportedly filed an unredacted version of the transcript, according to Cannon. The judge further expressed that this version “failed to comply with the court’s instructions.”
FBI Agents Have Been Redacted From Interview Transcript Made Public
The names of the FBI agents have been redacted from the interview transcript that went public. This was done after an extensive period of legal arguments regarding the actual redactions of the transcript.
Special Counsel Jack Smith previously argued that even more redactions should have been considered. His primary concern was to keep the identities of all possible witnesses concealed for their privacy and safety purposes.
Walt Nauta: ‘I Wish, I Wish I Could Tell You’, But ‘I Honestly Just Don’t Know’
Prosecutors claim that Nauta moved the boxes of classified documents to Trump’s home for him to review. The claim highlighted the allegation that Trump gave Nauta specific instructions about this task.
However, Nauta reportedly led to the FBI agents during the investigation. When asked where the boxes were stored on the property, Nauta stated, “I wish, I wish I could tell you. I don’t know. I don-t — I honestly just don’t know.”
Nauta Faced Six Federal Charges, Including Conspiracy To Obstruct Justice
Walt Nauta reportedly faced six federal charges related to the confidential documents case against Donald Trump. These charges included the conspiracy to obstruct justice and the corrupt concealing of a document or record.
Donald Trump reportedly protested the inclusion of Walt Nauta in the indictment by praising Nauta. He claimed that Nauta was a “wonderful man” that had “done a fantastic job.”
Donald Trump Criticizes ‘Corrupt’ FBI, DOJ For ‘Trying To Destroy’ Nauta’s Life
Trump wrote that the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI were “trying to destroy” Nauta’s life. He claimed that it was just like they did with the “lives of so many others.”
According to Trump, their goal was to hope “that he will say bad things about ‘Trump.'” Trump described Nauta as being “strong, brave, and a Great Patriot.” He added a comment claiming that the FBI and DOJ were “corrupt.”
Ty Cobb: ‘I Think Walt Is Easy Prey For The President’ Due To Dedicated Patriotism
Ty Cobb, who was the former White House attorney that represented Trump during the Russia investigation, claimed that he felt sorry for Walt Nauta. Cobb described Nauta as a worker focused on fulfilling his duties that just “nods and then does what he’s been told to do.”
Cobb further expressed his belief that “Walt is easy prey for the president because this is a dedicated patriot.” He claimed that Walt’s “proudest moment” was “being named valet to the president.”
Cobb Praised Nauta For His Kind Acts, Including Club Soda And Salmon Lunches
Cobb highlighted Nauta’s work ethic in his comments as well. He recalled times when Nauta would stop by his home and get him club soda when he worked late.
For instance, Cobb remembered that Nauta noticed that there were a lot of uneaten hamburgers. He concluded that Cobb did not eat red meat, so he started to substitute salmon as the entrée for his lunches.
Cobb: Walt Nauta ‘Should Be A Witness, He Shouldn’t Be A Defendant’
Cobb acknowledged that “it’s really sad that people were not able to convince him of his misplaced loyalty” regarding Nauta’s apparent decision to not cooperate with prosecutors. Cobb expressed his belief that Nauta “should be a witness” and “shouldn’t be a defendant.”
He added that “you can only dangle that opportunity for so long before you have to shoot.” He described the incident as “tragic.”
Former White House Counsel: Nauta ‘Could Strike A Good Deal’ For Turning Against Trump
John Dean, a former White House counsel that testified against President Nixon during the Watergate scandal, claimed that he would advise Nauta to turn against Donald Trump. He stated that Nauta “could strike a good deal and help put it away for the government.”
Dean served four months in prison for obstructing justice.
