Black voters were one of the primary reasons why Joe Biden beat Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, with 92% voting for Biden and 8% voting for Trump. Now that they’ve seen what four years under Biden are like, many black voters are reconsidering their vote ahead of the 2024 election – and Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson is taking notice.

Who Is Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson?

Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson is the founder of Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND), a Christian ministry based out of Los Angeles, CA. He’s a conservative Republican largely known for his extreme political views, which he doesn’t mind sharing.

And that’s exactly what he did on Monday’s edition of Fox News @ Night. Appearing alongside host Trace Gallagher on March 11, Peterson discussed how black voters – who have historically voted Democrat – would rather see another four years of Trump than Biden.

Democrats Have Tossed Blacks To The Side

During the segment, Peterson argued that, even if he was ‘black enough,’ he couldn’t afford to vote for Biden this time around – and there are a lot of black voters out there that would echo that sentiment.

“For a long time, Blacks… were committed to the Democratic Party. That’s no longer the case because the Democrats have clearly tossed Blacks to the side, and they’re not looking out for them anymore,” Peterson said – detailing two primary problems with the Biden Administration.

Problem #1: Economic Crisis

When Biden took office in 2021, he was inheriting an economy that had done mightily well under Trump. Unfortunately, Biden’s first few years in office saw the economy dwindle as Americans saw inflation rise to unforeseen levels, making its presence felt in every aspect of our lives.

What’s interesting is that the economy has gradually improved over the past year, and if you look at the real statistics, it is actually doing quite well right now. Inflation has hit a three-year low, job creation is booming, and Americans are starting to spend again.

Problem #2: Border Crisis

The second problem outlined by Peterson was the border crisis – perhaps the No. 1 issue among voters this election cycle. His policies have welcomed record numbers of illegal aliens into the country, which has resulted in an increase in crime and drugs.

“What is not being talked about [is] a lot of these the aliens are coming in, and they are ending up in the Black communities… in the schools,” Peterson said. “The gang violence between the Black gangs and Hispanic gangs and other gangs that are coming in is out of control.”

Obama Didn’t Do Enough For Black Voters

While Biden continues to lose the support of black voters across the country, Peterson argues that it was really the Obama Administration that started losing their trust. While Obama promised to do a lot for the black community, he ultimately came up short.

“It started really with Obama. A lot of Blacks saw that Obama would do more for them, but he didn’t get jobs. He didn’t provide for them, and under Joe Biden, it just wiped them out,” Peterson said.

Black Voters Are Starting To Speak Out

Peterson went on to discuss the apparent shift in mindset among black voters in recent years and attributed it to a lack of black leadership in politics today. Since black voters don’t feel they’re being represented, they’re now starting to speak out.

“Because their black leadership don’t care – they’re in government for themselves, for money and power – the blacks don’t really have anyone to represent them. So, you’re starting to hear a lot of them speak out now about what’s really happening,” Peterson said.

Many Are Considering A Vote For Trump

The change in mindset is happening in communities across the country. Even some of Peterson’s family members – who have exclusively voted Democrat in past elections – are starting to shift their political strategy and are now considering a vote for Trump.

“I have to tell you, even my own family members. I never imagined that they would be voting for Donald Trump – they’re saying yes to Trump now,” he said – adding that they ‘cannot afford to vote for Joe Biden’ in November’s presidential election.

Georgia Barber Not 100% Sold On Biden

At the start of the segment, Gallagher played Peterson a clip of a black barber from Georgia who was considering switching his vote from Democrat to Republican. The barber said he wasn’t 100% sure that he would vote for Biden if the polls opened today.

When asked what has changed over the past few years, the barber responded, “Life.” It’s a response many black voters in America can relate to. “The way these last three to four years have been, this is the worst it’s ever been in my life,” he added.

New York Times/Siena Poll Causes Chaos

A recent poll, released by the New York Times and Siena on March 2, proves that Peterson isn’t wrong in his observation about black voters. According to the poll, 23% of black voters support Donald Trump in this year’s race – a number that was as low as 4% in 2020’s election.

The poll angered a lot of liberal pundits who weren’t ready to admit that Biden is, in fact, losing support among black voters – even as the numbers continue to support that claim.

Bakari Sellers Refutes New York Times Poll

One of those liberal pundits was Bakari Sellers, a political analyst for CNN who found it hard to believe that nearly 1 in 4 black voters would vote for Trump in November.

“If you believe that 23% of Black voters are going to vote for Donald Trump, I just want to go ahead and sell you that bridge in Brooklyn,” she said. For those who don’t know, ‘selling someone the Brooklyn Bridge’ is another way of calling someone gullible.

USA Today/Suffolk University Poll Echoes That Sentiment

Another poll, released by USA Today and Suffolk University in Jan. 2024, continued to support the claim that black voters – and even Hispanic voters – aren’t sold on Joe Biden this year.

The poll found that Biden’s support among black voters is down to just 63% – a far cry from the 92% that supported him in the 2020 election, according to the Pew Research Center. As for Hispanics, only 34% support Biden – down from 59% in 2020.

Dr. John Boyd Jr. Criticizes Democrats

Peterson isn’t the only one criticizing Democrats for leaving black voters in the dust. Dr. John Boyd Jr., a fourth-generation farmer and civil rights activist, discussed his views during an appearance on Fox News Digital a few weeks ago.

“From a Black standpoint, many Blacks, including my son, have voted Democrat for a very long time, and it looks like, when we raise issues like this, our votes are being taken for granted,” he said – adding that Biden is losing support because he’s not ‘communicating with the black community.’
